Sea Urchin Dye Workshop
Join us for a hopeful day of creating natural dye from the overpopulation of purple sea urchins and a private tour of a lab that’s growing baby sunflower sea stars. On our private tour of the lab, we’ll see, “Three independent saltwater recirculating systems, complete with filtration systems, water pumps, and chillers.” And their Algae Room. Back at Elkhorn Yacht Club, you’ll learn how to turn an ecological disaster into a colorful wonder.

Sea Urchin Natural Dye Workshop at Fibershed
Meet us at Fibershed for a collaborative workshop with Seelie Studio and Materevolve exploring natural dye creation from sea urchins. Through art, ecology, and hands-on making, participants will create their own naturally dyed textile inspired by California’s coastal ecosystems.
