ALTARS is a textile art exhibition by Margaret, the founder of Seelie Studio. The show took place at Gospel Flat Farm Stand and Gallery in Bolinas, California, in February 2025. All works were created during her artist residency at the Mendocino Art Center. Each work is made from 100% natural materials, from the colors each piece is dyed with to the copper bars the wool is hung from.

Seelie’s goal with this body of work is to create a meditative space for you to contemplate your place in the natural world. A reminder that in the climate crisis, creativity can help move the needle toward harmony.

The entire show consists of 4 natural dyes:

Sea Urchin Dye – Pinks

Indigo Dye – True Blues

Iron – Grays

Copper – Teals

All of the wool is sources from a family owned farm in Nebraska. The urchins, shells, kelp, and other oceanic materials are from Northern California.
